About Me

I really enjoy working with people and tackling all the problems and challenges that come my way on a day-to-day basis. With a focus on personalised service, competitive rates and customer satisfaction, I’m always working to exceed my clients’ high standards and expectations.

My previous experience working in-house for clients in Germany and France and my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Salford have given me an excellent foundation for delivering a level of quality that my clients can rely on. I started working freelance from my home in St. Helens, United Kingdom, in 2010, and can honestly say I have never looked back. Maintaining my reputation as a reliable translator means making sure my clients have complete and total confidence in my services.

Translation

German to English / French to English

If you are planning a translation project, whether it be for the launch of a new product, the publication of an academic thesis or to send emails to your customers, just get in touch! My passion lies in medical translations, although, over the last 10 years, I have gathered extensive experience translating a wide range of texts, including health and safety reports, press releases on university research, product brochures, hospital websites, magazine articles, employment contracts, holiday home advertisements, recipes and even crochet patterns! I am a native speaker of British English but can provide texts in American English if you prefer.

Proofreading

British or American English

If you have a text that's already in English and want to be sure that it reads well, I'll be happy to proofread it for you. Sometimes, texts for proofreading have been translated by non-native speakers of English. Unfortunately, these texts are often difficult to understand due to translation errors or incorrect grammar and so it may be more economical to just have these translated from scratch. In any case, I always recommend providing both the source text and the translated English text for any proofreading jobs as this can help clear up any misunderstandings during proofreading.

FAQ

What payment methods do you accept?

The vast majority of my clients pay by bank transfer, although I also accept PayPal. If you would like to pay using a different payment method, I'll be happy to discuss this with you.

How do I request a quotation?

If you would like to request a quotation, please email me your text and your preferred deadline, and I will respond to you as soon as possible.

What kinds of files can you handle?

Most of my work involves MS Office files, IMDL files and PDFs. Any PDFs containing non-editable text (e.g. scanned documents) should preferably be converted into editable Word files, otherwise there will be an extra charge for the additional workload. If you would like another type of file translated, please just get in touch and I will try my best to help you.

In which subject areas do you work?

Although I have a particular interest in the medical and scientific fields, my work so far has involved a wide range of texts in many different industries. I have translated marketing texts for everything from medical devices and dietary supplements to luxury handbags, annual reports for finance and technology companies, apps for social networks and disaster relief organisations, submissions to academic journals, appliance instruction manuals, board game packaging and children's craft kits. Whatever your field, please just get in touch.
